The Refix Model: Remote Sensing Based Flood Modelling
نویسندگان
چکیده
This study presents an advanced remote sensing-based steady-state flood model to improve flood management strategies. The REFIX (Regression and Elevation based Flood Information eXtraction) model is based on regression analysis and uses a remotely sensed flood extent and a high-resolution floodplain DEM (Digital Elevation Model) to estimate water heights for a given flood event. In some cases, piecewise regression is required to yield a more appropriate flood water line estimation. The accuracy of the REFIX model, compared to in situ high water marks, is 18 cm for the January 2003 flood event on the River Alzette floodplain (G.D. of Luxembourg). A comparison with a simulation from the HEC-RAS hydraulic flood model, calibrated on the same event, shows that the REFIX model approximates the water line reliably.

Runoff create problems like erosion, flood and etc. Withe Assessment of the watershed we can identify the areas that have a potential for flood. And control operations taking only in those area. In this regard, identification areas with high potential for runoff for flood controls is great importance. Here, two major objectives have been considered: 1. evaluation Modclark model in simulation of...

Sea-level rise (SLR) from global warming may have severe consequences for coastal cities, particularly when combined with predicted increases in the strength of tidal surges. Predicting the regional impact of SLR flooding is strongly dependent on the modelling approach and accuracy of topographic data. Here, the areas under risk of sea water flooding for London boroughs were quantified based on...
